Oh it's definitely for real, the guy has done lots of similar "camouflage" photos, apparently he can sometime spend up to 10 hours setting up a single photo. Some of them work better than others though.

Google "Liu-Bolin" and loads of his stuff comes up.

Ah right! he actually paints them against the background then (clever shit)...thought it was jus some sort of doctored computer image thing at first made to look like a ghost.Picked a few others that look really cool aswell :)
